If you are between 12 and 25 years old and are entitled to pay the intermediate or reduced fare, this section concerns you.
If you are between 6 and 11 years old, current access to reduced fare practices will remain in effect until spring 2009.
The new registered photo ID OPUS card replaces the access card for intermediate and reduced fares. From now on, you will only need a single card containing your valid transit fare (monthly pass, ticket, etc.), your photo and fare privilege.
Eligibility requirements
You must meet the following requirements to qualify for the intermediate or reduced fare:
You are between 12 and 17 years old and
- Study full-time at an institution recognized by the ministère de l’Éducation du Loisir et du Sport du Québec (MELS);
- Are over the age of 11 and under the age of 18 at October 31 of current year.
You are between 18 and 25 years old (STM and RTL only) and
- Are a Montréal island resident or an RTL client;
- Study full-time at an institution recognized by the MELS;
- Are over the age of 17 and under the age of 26 at October 31 of current year.
You are between 18 and 21 years old (STL and AMT intermediate fares) and
- Study full-time at an institution recognized by the MELS;
- Are over the age of 17 and under the age of 22 at October 31 of current year.
Valid Transit Fares
Once you have your new OPUS card, you must charge it with any of these valid intermediate or reduces transit fares in order to use public transportation:

Period of validity
Student fare privileges are valid until October 31 of the year following its issuance / delivery and must be renewed between September 1 and December 31 of the following year. Your registered photo ID OPUS card is valid for a two-year period. For the second year, if you are still eligible, you need only pay a fee for the fare privilege.
